The southwest monsoon in 2020 marked its second consecutive year of stellar performance with the Jun-Sep season clocking 9% surplus rainfall. Such a back-to-back run of above normal monsoon was last recorded more than two decades ago in 1997-1998. As such, the kharif sowing has posted a healthy growth of 4.8%. This clearly has implications for both growth and inflation in the coming quarters.
